Hello to the men of Cleveland BSF.
It has been such a blessing getting to know so many of you over the past 10 years. This past week was my final week at Cleveland BSF. So many of you have had a huge impact on my life over the years and I didn’t want to just disappear without saying good-bye.
Today is a packing day as our family is getting ready to move, so I’m not going to write much, but I thought this may be easier to send and spread than a bulk email.
One of the things that I love about BSF is the variety of backgrounds and views towards God’s Word. It is wonderful that the Holy Spirit is the one who guides us into all truth. He has used you to help me see the Word in a new light, and to grow in my knowledge, love and fear of the Lord.
Our family is making many big changes right now, and I thank you for your prayers. Two of the biggest changes happened within a two week period. We closed on a new home in Springfield, Missouri just about a week before my dad suddenly passed away. We are trusting and rejoicing that God is completely in control of all things and that his ways are perfectly good. While we are already seeing glimpses of the blessings of this difficult timing, we are excited that he is in control and nothing is random chance.
My Dad’s passing
Some of you have been in BSF groups with my dad, Bob Goll, over the years and many of you have heard that my dad passed away on April 26th. Thank you for your prayers and for your words of encouragement. I had let many of you know that I was preparing a webpage and video with highlights from his memorial service, as a way to point to Christ. Honestly, it’s been a whirlwind and I don’t remember who all I am supposed to send the webpage and video to.
My sons’, sisters’ and my talks from the memorial service were intended to point to the hope that we have in Christ. If you would like to listen to our sharing about Christ’s work in and through my dad, the video is at https://3rdcultureliving.com/robertegoll/.
Moving to Springfield, Missouri
At the same time, we are excited to be moving to a homestead in Springfield, Missouri. There are many unknowns and this is certainly well out of our skill set, though we are excited to learn (and in turn help others). The truth that we are holding onto is that God is with us, will never leave us and never forsake us. Our prayer during this adventure has been that God would Lead, Provide, and Protect. Our hope is to have this be a launching point for ministry and outreach, as we look to have a “People Farm”, where people can come to connect with God while surrounded by his creation.
As we would love to continue to connect with friends here, we are restarting our newsletters, much like when we lived overseas.
If you would like to receive our newsletters as we lean heavy into God on this new adventure, we are happy to stay connected in this way. You can sign up for the newsletter at https://3rdcultureliving.com/newsletter/.
We will also be adding to our blog, which will be less personal than the newsletter, but still give updates, etc. If you would like, you can sign up to receive email updates from our blog at https://3rdcultureliving.com/subscribe/.
For many of you, we have been BSF friends and brothers for years and yet I don’t have your contact information. Feel free to pass this along if you know of someone else who may be interested.
Blessings,
Rob Goll
